In iOS 7 the Favorites section in the Phone app shows a contact picture alongside the contact. If you don’t have a preset picture for the contact it will display a circle with the initials of the contacts name.
This feature is turned on by default. If you want to disable this feature, here’s how to do it.
Turn off Favorites Contact Picture
Disabling this features is really east, just:
- Open Settings
- Tap Phone
- Turn off “Contact Photos in Favorites”
While I actually like the contact photo feature, it can cause something that I don’t like. As you can see, one of the contacts has its name cut off because of the space taken up by the picture.
Removing the contact image, alleviates this minor issue.
Another thing, those initial based “images” are used whenever a contact picture isn’t available, which makes it somewhat useless since the contacts name is right there.
If your like me and don’t go asking people to pose for a picture when they give their phone number, there is practically no reason to have this feature enabled.
Of course to re-enable this feature just go back to Settings, Phone and turn back on “Contact Photos for Favorites”.
