In an earlier post I explained how to enable and use dictation, in this article go over some simple tips and tricks as well as some other features that really bring out the functionality of dictation on a Mac. For those of you who don’t know what dictation is, it is a tool built into your Mac that automatically transcribes your speech into words.

In fact, everything you are reading right now has been “written” with dictation.

“Writing” this post with dictation could go either way, it could be fun and useful or just an outright pain, I’ll let you know how it goes at the end.

put contacts into categories orgainze contacts in icloud group

So I received an email asking how to organize contacts into groups. My first thought was, “Oh, this will be simple”. So before I started up a response I picked up my iPad, opened the contacts app fully expecting that Apple would have made this easy to do. A couple of minutes later, I realized that you can’t sort contacts into a group on an iOS device.

This was confusing at first because you are able to view grouped contacts on an iOS device, even able to hide and view the groups. It would seem that Apple hasn’t given us the ability to group contacts on either an iPad, iPhone or iPod. If you do want to organize your contacts into groups then you’ll need to have a use the icloud.com website, the Contacts app on a Mac or use a different browser on your iPad.

BootCamp Assistant is an application made by Apple that makes it easy to install and run Windows on a Mac.  It’s not absolutely necessary to use the BootCamp Assistant however it does somewhat simply the process. It does this by automatically creating a separate partition on your hard drive and then uses that partition to run Windows on the Mac. The steps taken by BootCamp to install Windows on a Mac can also all be accomplished by using Disk Utility so we’ll go through both methods.

how do i boot from old iPod mac mountain lion os x

Well this started off as just a test to satisfy my own curiosity. I wasn’t sure if it was possible to boot & run Mac OS X Mountain Lion from my old iPod, so I figured I’d give it a shot and see if it worked. 4 hours later, I was running Mac OS X from my iPod. As a matter of fact as I write this article I’m booted into my iPod Classic.
